About the Position: This is a Test Coordinator position responsible for coordinating, administering, and implementing all aspects of the Student Testing Program (STP). The City of Anchorage offers rich culture from unique shopping and dining to fishing, hunting, camping, skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, dog sledding, and viewing of the Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights).

Duties

Coordinate with schools or educational programs to sustain participation in the student testing programs. Negotiate with non-participating schools to initiate testing. Present a variety of educational topics (i.e., testing, test release options, new recruiter, etc.) to members of the community for better understating of the program. Provide interpretation of test results to school officials as needed. Create promotional handouts or materials for student testing program. Generate reports on recruitment services and/or provide recommendations for improvement. Compile data regarding student testing, from various electronic databases, to draft technical papers.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be available to work evenings and weekends as required.
  • Frequent local travel and occasional temporary duty (TDY) business travel is required approximately 15% of the time.
  • Must be in possession of or have ability to obtain a driver's license.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) scheduling testing sessions; 2) compiling data into a reporting system to create reports; 3) conducting inventories for materials and supplies. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). OR Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Business Management; Business Administration; Education, or a field that is directly related to the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages. Proficiency Required:This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5-minute sample with three or fewer errors.
