This position serves as a journeyman pipefitter of the Pipe-fitting/Plumbing Shop, Engineering Service at the VA Healthcare System, Bay Pines, Florida.

Duties

Major duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: Installs or modifies equipment such as sewage, water, oil, air or gas distribution systems, as well as bathroom and kitchen fixtures. Reviews specifications, works from blueprints and/or sketches, plans and routes the new systems, makes necessary installs, places and tests equipment, and makes any necessary adjustments to ensure function and operation. Investigates and troubleshoots indicated systems and equipment and makes corrective action as necessary. Repairs or replaces equipment or systems as necessary to maintain operation. PHYSICAL EFFORT AND WORK CONDITIONS: Frequently works from ladders, scaffolding and platforms and in hard-to-reach areas. Work involves standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in tiring or uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts and carries parts and equipment up to 50 lbs. with occasional lifting and carrying over 50 lbs. Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Federal Wage System Qualifications.
