This position serves as a journeyman pipefitter of the Pipe-fitting/Plumbing Shop, Engineering Service at the VA Healthcare System, Bay Pines, Florida.
Duties
Major duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Installs or modifies equipment such as sewage, water, oil, air or gas distribution systems, as well as bathroom and kitchen fixtures.
Reviews specifications, works from blueprints and/or sketches, plans and routes the new systems, makes necessary installs, places and tests equipment, and makes any necessary adjustments to ensure function and operation.
Investigates and troubleshoots indicated systems and equipment and makes corrective action as necessary.
Repairs or replaces equipment or systems as necessary to maintain operation.
Other related duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00am - 3:30pm

Qualifications
PHYSICAL EFFORT AND WORK CONDITIONS: Frequently works from ladders, scaffolding and platforms and in hard-to-reach areas. Work involves standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in tiring or uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts and carries parts and equipment up to 50 lbs. with occasional lifting and carrying over 50 lbs.

Your knowledge, skills and abilities will be compared to the knowledge, skills and abilities (called job elements) needed for success. Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen out element (WG-2 and higher only; screen-outs are not applicable to WG-1). Applicants who appear to meet the screen out element are considered for further rating; those who do not are rated ineligible and are eliminated from consideration. The potential eligibles are rated against the remainder of the job elements. IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities.
