About the Position: Serves as a national Natural Resources Management (NRM) Program Manager for one or more of the following command-wide programs: Recreation Management Program; Natural Resource Management/Stewardship Program; Land Management Program; Partnership Program; and Environmental Compliance Program.
Duties
Manages the Corps Outdoor Recreation Program to ensure that public recreation needs are met, taking into account budgetary, cultural, sociological, educational, health, and historical factors.
Manages the Corps NRM/Stewardship Program to ensure that fisheries, wildlife, forestry, land, and water resources are managed in accordance with applicable environmental stewardship laws and agency policies at Corps projects.
Manages the Corps Land Management Program, to ensure that policies and proper guidance are developed for the preparation and evaluation of master plans.
Develops policies and guidance for the Corps Partnership Program to ensure that field level units have the tools and abilities to develop public and private sector partnerships for the development of recreation and other natural resources activities.
Serves as USACE Program Area Manager on the staff of the USACE Environmental Compliance Branch, with responsibility for providing implementing policy guidance, consultative assistance, and staff coordination.

Basic Requirement for Natural Resource Manager:
A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.
OR
B. Combination of Education and Experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes applying knowledge and experience in the development of national policy, management and application of the concepts, experimental theories, principles, and practices of outdoor recreation management, customer service, stewardship, land management, environment compliance and/or partnerships. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-13).
