This position is located with Bonneville Power Administration, in the Programs Implementation (EPI), Pollution Prevention and Abatement (EP), Environment, Fish and Wildlife (E), Bonneville Power Administration (BPA).
A successful candidate in the Natural Resource Specialist (Environmental Compliance) position will serve provide senior scientific and technical expertise for pollution prevention and abatement programs, projects, and natural resource protection/management issues.

As a Natural Resource Specialist (Environmental Compliance), you will:
Requirements

- This position does not support remote work. You will be required to report physically to the official reporting worksite as specified by the supervisor, but no less than 3 days per pay period.
- This position requires a valid driver's license as a condition of employment.
- After employment, this position may be subject to periodic physical examinations, as prescribed by competent medical authority and at BPA expense, if exposed to health hazards.
- A preliminary background check must be completed before a new employee can begin work.
- Current Federal employees or other individuals with an existing completed background investigation may not be required to undergo another background check.
- Frequent overnight travel (11 or more days of overnight travel per month for field work).
- Work is performed in the office and field. Fieldwork requires moderate physical exertion including hiking through BPA rights of way, which includes very steep and uneven terrain.
- The work involves lifting and positioning generators weighing up to 50 lbs.
- The work is performed in a variety of weather conditions. Exposure to hazardous substances and various types of contamination may occur. Protective clothing and respiratory equipment are required when appropriate.
Qualifications
BASIC REQUIREMENT:
Degree: Biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.
OR
Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level, GS-12, in the Federal service.
Specialized experience for this position is defined as: 1) providing scientific expertise in the planning, development, coordination, and implementation of environmental and natural resource protection measures for utility corridor, facility or similar projects; and 2) applying knowledge of Federal, State and local laws and environmental regulations related to vegetation management, utility corridor maintenance, infrastructure construction, or similar programs.
