About the Position: Serves as a Supervisory Environmental Protection Specialist for United States Army Garrison Fort Irwin responsible for planning, advising, reviewing, developing and maintaining all facets of the Pollution Prevention (P2) and other assigned programs.
Duties
Develop and maintain pollution prevention (P2) and compliance programs for Fort Irwin.
Advises leadership and management, staff, operating officials, and contractors on matters concerning environmental policy and execution of programs.
Acts as the subject matter expert (SME) and overall POC for pollution prevention and related hazardous waste, solid waste and recycling programs.
Develops and conducts compliance and pollution prevention related projects and contracts.
Provides environmental program guidance on policies and regulations to ensure compliance with DOD, DA, Federal, State, Regional, and local monitoring and enforcement agency statutory and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Occasional TDY travel is required.
- Employee must be able to obtain and maintain Contract Officer Representative certification through the local Mission and Instillation Contracting Command (MICC) within 6 months of being assigned to this position.
- This position requires wearing proper protective gear during site visits.
- Incumbent is required to submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, upon entering the position and annually, in accordance with DoD Directive 5500-7-R, Joint Ethics Regulation, dated 17-Nov-2011.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service which includes: Developing and maintaining pollution prevention and compliance programs; Advising leadership and management, staff, operating officials, and contractors on matters concerning environmental policy and execution of programs; Providing environmental program guidance on policies and regulations to ensure compliance with DOD, DA, Federal, State, Regional, and local monitoring and enforcement agency statutory and regulatory requirements.
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
