About the Position: The incumbent serves as an Environmental Protection Specialist in the Environmental Division, Directorate of Public Works.

Duties

Gather information and data necessary to demonstrate compliance with air permits and regulations. Provide input to command briefings on impacts of existing and upcoming Clean Air Act regulations. Assists in the preparation and maintenance of Program Plans and Reports. Maintains various Environmental Management Recordkeeping Systems. Evaluates environmental permits, applications, registrations, updates, documentation, reports, studies, etc. Collaborates with various agency staff compliance programs outside the Air Compliance Program. Assists the Environmental Division with supply and logistics support.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a valid state driver’s license and any installation and/or DoD license required for the type of vehicle being driven.
  • TDY travel is occasionally required.
  • Incumbent is required to submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, (5CFR Part 2634, Subpart I Confidential Financial Disclosure Reports) upon entering the position and annually.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service, or equivalent non-federal experience which includes: (1) Advising, developing, managing, and/or performing administrative or program work relating to environmental protection programs such as: programs to protect or improve environmental quality, control pollution, remedy environmental damage, or ensure compliance with environmental laws and regulations; (2) Presenting high level, technical information on environmental issues through briefings, reports and/or studies to a variety of audiences; (3) Researching/analyzing environmental laws and regulations to identify areas of potential impact and developing solutions; and (4) Reviewing, drafting, and/or finalizing policies, principles, or standard operating procedures affecting environmental issues for assigned programs, such as: Pollution Prevention Program, Hazardous Materials/Waste Management, Clean Air Act, Spill Prevention, National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAPs), Ozone Depleting Substance and Greenhouse Gas regulations, etc. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
