About the Position: Serves as Design Integration Specialist providing technical and administrative coordination and integration of civil works and military design projects for construction, maintenance, repair, and for special projects or feasibility studies. Serves on assigned project delivery teams and works in close communication with Project Managers.

Duties

Ensures that designs, plans, and studies are conducted with the appropriate levels of coordination and technical input and incorporate the needed attributes for successful product delivery. Develops plan of action pertinent to the evaluation and execution of design and construction projects for civil works and military customers. Solves, advises on, or evaluates complex design management problems. Determines who should be on the government review chain based on the nature of the project and special features involved, including outside regulatory agencies. Coordinates activities of project participants and conducts progress review meetings as appropriate. As a lead design engineer- performs the full range of duties and responsibilities for project design development on large, diversified Military, Civil Works and HTRW projects. Serves as formal independent technical reviewer on in-house and other District’s designs, as required by District, Division and HQ Quality Control regulations.

Basic Requirement for Civil Engineer: Please follow this link to view the basic requirement for the engineer occupations: https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/general-schedule-qualification-standards/0800/files/all-professional-engineering-positions-0800.pdf Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing all of the following: 1) providing technical and administrative coordination and integration of civil works and military design projects for construction, maintenance, and repair, 2) independently performs major work assignments in connection with the design and modification of projects such as; navigation and coastal works, levees, dams, roads, streets, runways, taxiways, hardstands, airstrips, docks, fill, excavations, water supply, sanitary facilities and remedial action for hazardous and toxic waste (HTRW), and 3) Reviewing technical design, constructability and biddability of Military, Civil Works and HTRW projects. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR. This position requires Professional Engineer registration/certification. (You must upload a copy of your current registration/certification with your application.
