This vacancy is for an International Trade Specialist in the International Trade Administration (ITA), Global Markets (GM), within the Department of Commerce.

Duties

As an International Trade Specialist, you will perform the following duties: Analyzes key international trade promotion and trade policy topics and contributes to significant Department decisions, policy recommendations, and program development. Develops and implements significant new U.S. business facilitation and investment/trade promotion strategies. Prepares background, briefing, and other written materials for Department officials to use in policy development and promulgation. Plans and manages major, high-priority trade and investment promotion programs and events which are central to Department trade development objectives. This Job Opportunity Announcement may be used to fill other International Trade Specialist GS-1140-14 positions within the Department of Commerce in the same geographical location with the same qualifications and specialized experience.

This experience need not have been in the federal government. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies; knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. To qualify at the GS-14 level: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: You must possess one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as: Experiencing formulating policies on international trade and/or economic and/or commercial issues. Experience advising senior officials on policy issues on one or more of the following: commercial, economic, political, or business affairs. Experience preparing written documents related to policy or decision memoranda, position papers, briefing materials, talking points, and speeches for senior Departmental officials.
