About the Position: Fort Drum is located in Northern New York, a historically unique and geographically beautiful area. Fort Drum is approximately 30 miles from Canada, with the Great Lakes to the west, Adirondack Mountains to the east, and St. Lawrence River and Thousand Islands in between, offering ample outdoor activities year-round.

Duties

Responsible for the supervision of the Training Aids, Devices, Simulator and Simulation (TADSS) operations of the Training Support Center (TSC) and Virtual Training Facility. Develop and perform instruction, tours, briefings, and simulator operations, discrepancy resolution, Circuit Rider (CR) visits and TADSS issue and receipt. Provide briefings and tours to familiarize visiting officials, military unit personnel with the organizations mission, capability, and personnel and equipment resources. Prepare periodic reports on utilization and operations of the Training Support Center. Conduct periodic inspections of equipment for serviceability, maintenance, accountability, and utilization. Prepares a Training Aids, Devices, Simulator and Simulation (TADSS) support program and trains team members to serve as members of "Contact Teams" that visit supported units in the field as required and facilitate issue and use of TADSS).

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent to travel away from the home duty station on overnight trips up to 10% of the time.
  • This position requires the incumbent to possess a valid state driver's license.
  • This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one-year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that demonstrates a practical knowledge of the subject area of the position and of the methods and techniques of instruction, which includes 1) Instructing on a variety of Training Aids, Devices, Simulator, and Simulations equipment including the operation of, troubleshooting, and mechanics of each piece of equipment. 2) Performing property accountability, preventive maintenance instruction and operator training to new employees and customers on Training Aids, Devices, Simulator, and Simulations equipment. 3) Conducting tours and briefings for groups regarding the capabilities, the support available, and methods/procedures to obtain available support. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).??????? OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or with a major study in education or a subject area related to the position to be filled, such as, Adult Education. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
