The position located in the office of the Chief of Medical Service and reports to the Supervisory Health System Specialist. The incumbent performs a broad range of clerical and administrative tasks for designated clinical sections of Medical Service. The position can be located in Nashville or Murfreesboro VAMC location will be determined upon selection.

Duties

Major duties include, but are not limited to: Maintain manual files and retrieve data as needed. Communicate with various contacts at various organizational levels. Maintains timecards. Monitors suspensions for follow up and needed action. Requisition, purchase, storage and maintenance of stock levels, installation, repair, maintenance, and disposal of office equipment. Training Management System (TMS) Coordinator. Collects Relative Value Units (workload data) from attending physicians to analyze, interpret and complete reports for the designated clinical sections Collaborates with HR, Budget, Procurement, purchasing, and management. Receives, assigns and monitors externally and internally generated correspondence and inquires. Promotion Potential: The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level. Work Schedule: 07:30-04:00 Monday-Friday Telework: AD-HOC VA supports the use of telework as a way to help attract and retain talented individuals in public service, increase worker productivity, and better prepare the agency to operate during emergencies. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 01/10/2025. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: Specialized Experience GS-06: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience is defined as: performing a full range of administrative support for an office; receiving visitors and phone calls; reviewing all incoming and outgoing correspondence; scheduling meetings; typing a variety of correspondence, maintaining databases, utilizing various software programs. Coordinating, assigning, assessing and monitoring training needs for all personnel by analyze reports in the databases. This experience must be detailed in your resume to receive credit. You will be rated on the following Competencies for this position: Interpersonal SkillsProcess ControlReasoning Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items such as papers, books, small parts, or driving an automobile, etc. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
