This vacancy is for a WL-3806-10, Sheet Metal Mechanic (Aircraft) Leader, located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), United States Coast Guard (USCG), Aviation Logistics Center (ALC), Medium Range Recovery (MRR) Product Line, Programmed Depot Maintenance (PDM) Branch, in Elizabeth City, NC.

Duties

You will serve as a Sheetmetal Mechanic (Aircraft) Leader and be responsible for providing technical leadership and/or training and personally perform journey level work in the trade.

Qualifications

Applicants will be evaluated on their ability to perform the duties of the position rather than the length of experience. Eligibility will be determined by the relevance, scope, and quality of all experience and training, regardless of where or how acquired. Applicants will be rated and ranked based on their knowledge of the following job elements: Ability to lead (SCREENOUT) Knowledge of equipment, structure, materials, etc. (includes construction, repair, and forging) Ability to interpret instructions, specifications, etc. (includes blueprint reading) Layout and pattern development (includes geometric projection and triangulation) Ability to use hand tools, power tools, etc., for metal work Dexterity (assembly, disassembly, reassembly, etc.) The applicant must possess journey level experience performing aircraft sheet metal work. National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule, C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.

Education

College Transcript: If you are qualifying based on education, submit a copy of your college transcript that lists college courses detailing each course by the number and department (i.e., bio 101, math 210, etc.), course title, number of credit hours and grade earned.
