About the Position: Serve as a Advanced Practice Nurse (Family Practice) at the Army Medical Center Eisenhower located on Fort Eisenhower, GA - This is a Direct Hire Solicitation - A recruitment or relocation incentive may be authorized. - Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service. - Student Loan repayment may be authorized.

Duties

Examine patients and perform initial patient work-up and assessment of patients' care and treatment. Diagnoses disease, illness, disorder or injury, institutes treatment of patients. Provides primary care and preventive services to individuals. Evaluate the total health care needs of patients and develops plans to meet their individual need. Order laboratory tests, X-rays, etc. and arranges for physician or specialty consultations. Provide a full range of emergency services or crises interventions in the absence of the physician. Utilize advanced assessment skills to identify patient care problems, formulate plans to meet patient care needs and continually revise goals and objectives according to changes in patient status.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position has specific initial background investigation and periodic re-verification requirements since its duties require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age on a recurring basis.
  • Must obtain and maintain all current regulatory requirements for certification and/or licenses.
  • Must possess the prescribed credentials and/or license for practice approved by a nationally recognized professional body. Clinical privileges will vary among employees within the scope of practice.
  • This position is covered by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program. Incumbent is required to sign a DA Form 5019-R and must pass a urinalysis test as required prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • Must obtain and maintain a favorable result from a criminal history background check as a condition of employment.
  • This position is covered by Health Affairs Policy 97006, 23 Oct. 96, which requires the incumbent to obtain Hepatitis B Immunization unless exempted by a physician as well as an immunization screening as a condition of employment.
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.
  • Applicants will be required to sign a statement consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations.
  • This position may require the wear and use personal protective equipment as provided by the employer.
  • This position requires a pre-employment physical examination.
  • This position requires the ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • You must undergo a specific initial background checks, investigation and periodic re-verification check of multiple agency records to obtain and maintain a suitable determination to occupy a position having regular contact with children.
  • This position requires occasional TDY away from the duty station - 5%.
  • Position is Mission Essential but is not Inclement Weather essential.
  • This position requires Basic Life Support (BLS) training certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid stateside driver's license.
  • This position requires current Certified Child Life Specialist credentials from an accredited institution.

Basic Requirement for Advanced Practice Nurse (Family Practice): Degree: A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. Degree from Foreign Nursing School: Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools. AND Advanced Practice Nurse Positions: For Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) positions, applicants must possess a graduate or higher level degree in nursing from an accredited educational program in the area of expertise or specialty indicated by the position. Areas of specialties for positions include, but are not limited to, Acute Care, Anesthesia, Community Health, Family, Geriatric, Home Health, Midwifery, Neonatal, Oncology, Pediatric, Psychiatric, Allergy and Immunology, Women's Health, Cardiovascular, Dermatology, Occupational Health, Orthopedic, Respiratory, or other specialties identified for the position. Licensure For all grade levels and positions, applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination. In addition, they must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. Additional License Requirements for Advanced Practice Nurse Positions: Applicants for Advanced Practice Nurse positions must be licensed or registered by a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States in the clinical specialty required by the position. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One or more full years of professional nursing experience monitoring and administering treatment to patients; providing monitoring and administering treatment to patients; providing plans of care to chronically ill patients ; applied to a broad range of general medicine in the pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients in specialty areas; collaborating with other health care professionals to ensure optimal patient care; ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures and/or standards of nursing care; providing leadership and professional direction to nursing personnel. This definition of professional nursing experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
