The Mexico Institute performs two broad functions for the overall Wilson Center mission. First, it encourages policy-relevant scholarship and brings together key stakeholders from policy, academia, the media, business, and civil society together to address the most pressing political, social, and economic issues affecting Mexico and U.S. relations with Mexico through seminars, workshops, and briefings featuring prominent scholars and policymakers from America, and beyond.

The position of Director of the Mexico Institute:
Qualifications
To qualify, you must possess a demonstrated mastery of a particular discipline, area study, related to Mexico and U.S. relations with Mexico. Such mastery is evidenced by the possession of directly related professional experience performing as a strategist on matters pertaining to Mexico and U.S. relations with Mexico, complications for U.S. geopolitical, security, and economic interests- experience must be equivalent to at least one year at the GS-14 in the Federal government or similar experience in the private sector; must also demonstrate entrepreneurial, managerial, and administrative ability to direct a major program designed to bring cutting edge scholarship to focus on public policy issues related to emerging technologies and their implications, and experience in planning, supervising, evaluating, and coordinating the work of others; recognized record of publications and media presence as an expert on issues relating to the area of Mexico and U.S. relations with Mexico; work demonstrated ability to make effective oral presentations; requires expert knowledge of national, international, governmental and non-governmental organizations that fund work Mexico and U.S. relations with Mexico; must possess skill in grant writing and grant administration with documented record of success in order to solicit funding in support of program staff salaries and programming.
