The ideal candidate will have experience working at the federal, state, tribal or local level and familiar with the National Flood Insurance program. In this position the candidate will oversee compliance with statute, regulation or policy; communicate technical information to non-technical local officials. The individual will collaborate and maintain relationships and train a broad and diverse group of stakeholders.

Qualifications
Current Federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the Federal service. The time-in-grade and qualification requirements must be met within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.
To qualify for this position at the GS-12 level, you must possess one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal government, which has equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. Experience may be obtained in the federal government, a state or local government, or private sector, and must demonstrate the following:
Working with state and local officials on interpreting the laws, regulations and policies of the National Flood Insurance Program. AND
Providing technical assistance to state and local partners, engineers and the public: permitting, resolving violations according to adopted ordinances, letters of map change, elevation certificates, special flood hazard area and mapping updates. AND
Communicating benefits of floodplain management to local officials.
