These positions are located in multiple field offices throughout the U.S. and Puerto Rico. The positions will report to the Office of Field Office Management, Domestic Operations Directorate, Bureau of Diplomatic Security, U.S. Department of State. You will provide expert technical and analytical support to investigative personnel in planning, developing, and assisting in misconduct related to criminal investigations.
Duties
Provides support in Field and Resident Offices with criminal investigative operations; researches, obtains, and analyzes both classified and unclassified databases to follow trends of criminal violations of the law and regulations.
Inputs, tracks, and reviews analytical data trends that support the nature, type, and mode of potential subjects’ criminal behavior and activities.
Conducts electronic record checks and evaluations of documents to identify potential leads, for investigative caseloads.
Attends and contributes to criminal investigative briefings, presentations, and other informational platforms on investigative procedures and evidence collection processes or informational products.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Incumbent will be subject to random drug testing.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.

Qualifications
Applicants must meet all the required qualification requirements described below by the closing date of this announcement.
NOTE: Applicants must meet time-in-grade and time after competitive appointment requirements, by the closing date of this announcement.
Time-In-Grade Requirements: Federal applicants must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade to satisfy time-in-grade restrictions, per 5CFR 300, Subpart F.
Applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in the Federal service which provided the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position. Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience researching, analyzing, interpreting, and evaluating information related to the investigations of criminal violations and/or administrative wrongdoing committed in the U.S. and overseas.
Experience conducting queries in various electronic databases in support of criminal investigations.
Experience drafting and presenting investigative technical findings to be used in support of criminal prosecution.
There is no substitute of education for specialized experience for the GS-12 position.
