This position is located with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Superintendent, Southern Pueblos Agency, in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
NOTE: TRAVEL AND RELOCATION EXPENSES WILL NOT BE AUTHORIZED. ANY RELOCATION EXPENSES ASSOCIATED WITH REPORTING FOR DUTY WILL BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE SELECTED EMPLOYEE.
Duties
Responsible for providing long-range resource planning for the natural resources programs.
Ensures operational plans being implemented promote ecosystem management and proper utilization of resources in accordance with accepted conservation practices.
Serves as an advisor on all matters related to natural resources programs.
Oversees the preparation and submission of all necessary annual statistical and narrative reports and
maintains budgets for natural resources programs and activities.
Responsible for carrying out the directives set forth in the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).
Coordinates, plans, and participates in environmental field survey efforts.

Qualifications
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: (OPM Operating Manual,
Qualification Standards for Professional and Scientific Positions and Individual Occupational Requirements for General Natural Resources Management and Biological Science Series 0401).
BASIC REQUIREMENT FOR GS-0401:
1. Degree: biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.
OR
2. Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: In addition to meeting the basic entry level qualification requirements, applicants must have the following:
GS-12: Qualifying is one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal service. Examples may include work in applying environmental standards, methods, and practices to assure implementation of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA); working collaboratively with internal and external customers to provide guidance and make recommendations to environmental problems; and analyzing and interpreting environmental data, laws, and regulatory requirements and assessing the impact of these requirements to ensure organization's activities and operations remain in compliance.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and is typically in or related to the position to be filled.

If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study.
