As the Office of General Counsel Office Support Assistant, the incumbent shall provide clerical/technical support and serve as the central point of contact for the Office of General Counsel (OGC).

Duties

The incumbent of this position will serve as the EAC's primary administration official, with supervisory responsibility and oversight for the program areas of space and facilities management, and travel management, micro-purchases, support services, emergency preparedness, health and safety, events management, and miscellaneous administrative programs and services. The incumbent has responsibility for the day-to-day management and supervision of workflow and business processes to ensure operational tasks are completed properly, timely, and per customer service standards. The incumbent serves as a member of the management team and participates in the decision-making process and is accountable for solving EAC administrative management issues. The job is expected to perform occasional work-related travel. The supervisory AO position is located within EAC's Office of Chief Financial Officer, Administration Team, and the incumbent is responsible for providing first-line supervision and leadership for assigned subordinates. The position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). The Office Support Assistant at the Election Assistance Commission (EAC) plays a crucial role in providing clerical and administrative support within the Office of General Counsel (OGC).

SUPERVISOR CONTROLS Work assignments are given with information on general administrative issues, changes, deadlines, and priorities. The Office Support Assistant works independently to plan and conduct steps for completing position duties in accordance with established instructions and practices. When current practices or deviations in an assignment create difficulties in completion, the incumbent uses his/her own initiative to resolve them and coordinates efforts with other employees involved in or affected by the situation. Completed work is evaluated for technical soundness, usefulness, and conformance with office operating requirements and needs. The methods used to produce work normally are not reviewed. TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES Basic knowledge of the methods and procedures, mission requirements, goals and objectives, regulations, pertinent laws, policies, and precedents that govern the administrative operations of the organization. Skill in operating a personal computer and related peripheral equipment (e.g., printers, copiers, and fax equipment). Knowledge of capabilities and limitations of various software packages (e.g., Microsoft Windows, Calendar, Microsoft Word, Access database management, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Excel) to create and revise a wide range of documents, automated records, databases, and slides. Knowledge of grammar, spelling punctuation, and required formats and skills utilized in the preparation and distribution of correspondence. Knowledge of procedures, policies, and regulations pertaining to the control and issuance of Government Purchase Cards (GPC) and Purchase Requests (PR). Basic mathematic skills to assist with budget estimates, obligations, and expenditures, as well as the identification of over-or-under-obligation of funds.
