There is a vacancy for the position of General Attorney to serve as an Assistant Counsel (Equal Employment Opportunity) in the main Office of the Assistant General Counsel (Manpower & Reserve Affairs) at the Pentagon, Washington, DC.
Duties
You will be expected to advise DON Office of Equal Employment Opportunity (OEEO) regarding matters of EEO law and policy; in EEO matters, to assist OEEO and DON commands in maintaining the factual record.
You will be expected to provide legal sufficiency reviews of final agency decisions by OEEO and advise OEEO regarding appropriate relief.
You will be expected to provide legal support to OEEO regarding the DON Disability Program, Overseas EEO Program, and Affirmative Employment Program; and to advise the DON Secretariat’s EEO Office.
You will be expected to conduct research, analyze findings, and apply pertinent statutes, judicial decisions, administrative regulations and decisions, and agreements.
You will be expected to provide original legal reasoning to the solution of very complex administrative law matters.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
The position will be filled at the GS-14 or 15 level and has a full performance level of GS-15.
For selection at the GS-14 level, the candidate must have a minimum of three-and-a-half years of professional legal experience, with substantial experience in civilian personnel law.
For selection at the GS-15 level, the candidate must have a minimum of five-and-a-half years of professional legal experience, with substantial experience in civilian personnel law.
The grade level offered will be based upon the successful applicant's qualifications.
Applicants will be evaluated on 1) the depth, breadth, and quality of professional legal experience, with an emphasis on civilian personnel law generally, and EEO matters in particular; 2) capacity for legal analysis, and written and oral communication skills; 3) the ability to develop strong attorney-client relationships; and 4) familiarity with the organization of the DON and its personnel management systems.
Education
The successful applicant, at the time of application, must have graduated from a law school that is accredited by the American Bar Association, be an active member in good standing of the bar ofthe highest court of a State, U.S. Commonwealth, U.S. territory, or the District of Columbia, and beadmitted to practice before a state or federal court.
