The primary purpose of this position is serve as a Technical Training Instructor performing technical training instructor classroom-related activities. Supports officer course curriculum development and modification efforts utilizing Air Education and Training Command (AETC) curriculum in support of United States Air Force Undergraduate Air Battle Management Training.
Duties
Instructs students through assigned blocks of instruction at basic and/or advanced technical/administrative levels of Undergraduate Air Battle Management Training courses, the International Air Weapons Controller Course, and Theater Air Operations Center course.
Researches, develops, revises and recommends updates to Undergraduate Air Battle Management Training course materials, the International Air Weapons Controller Course materials, and Theater Air Operations Center course materials in accordance with established learning objectives.
Plans, develops, executes, and evaluates a comprehensive and effective training program.
Maintains professional and technical proficiency and accomplishes difficult, but well precedented special projects related to specialty area, to include staff surveillance visits to various training activities.

- Prior United States Air Force Air Battle Manager OR United States Air Force Enlisted Weapons Director instructor qualification and experience in one of the following is mandatory for employment consideration: (cont. below)
- (cont.) Control and Reporting Center (CRC), Air Control Squadron (ACS), E-3 Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS), or E-8 Joint Surveillance Target Attack Radar System (JSTARS).
- Prior to instructing live missions, the incumbent is required to pass and maintain clearance IAW AFI 48-123,
Medical Examination and Standards.
- Position may require travel by military or commercial aircraft in the performance of TDY.
- May be required to work on special projects as directed by the supervisor
- This position has been identified as Technical Training Essential.
- The employee must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level that demonstrates a practical knowledge of the subject area of the position and of the methods and techniques of instruction. Examples of qualifying specialized experience include: Teaching or instructing in an adult education program, secondary school, college, military installation, or industrial establishment in the appropriate field(s); Supervising or administering a training program; Development or review of training/course materials, aids, devices, etc., and evaluation of training results; Work in the occupation or subject-matter field of the position to be filled that required training or instructing others on a regular basis.

EDUCATION: Successfully completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree OR 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree OR LL.M with a major study in education or a subject area related to the position to be filled. NOTE: You must submit copies of your transcripts.

COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-09 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-11 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of a wide range of the principles and practical methods, techniques, and tools of instruction to teach a variety of students with a range of differences such as diverse ages, backgrounds, and levels of interest.
2. Knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of Air Battle Management at a practical level to include command and control functions, friendly aircraft capabilities, enemy aircraft capabilities, friendly air order of battle, enemy air order of battle, airspace deconfliction, and briefing and debriefing of air-to-air and air-to-ground missions.
3. Knowledge of tests and measurement principles, techniques, and objectives.
4. Skill in accomplishing special training studies and projects.
5. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and establish and maintain effective working relationships.
6. Ability to analyze problems and develop appropriate solutions.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

ACTIVE DUTY SERVICE MEMBERS: The VOW Act requires federal agencies to treat an eligible active duty service member as a veteran, disabled veteran, and preference eligible (as applicable) when applying for civil service positions before the effective release or discharge date. Appointment of military members before the release or discharge date is permissible if the member is on terminal leave. At the time the active duty member applies for a civil position, he or she must submit a "certification" memo in lieu of a DD-Form 214,
Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty.
