This position is located in the DEA, Office of the Administrator.
This position(s) primary purpose is to perform a wide range of complex administrative and programmatic assignments critical to the office operations.
Duties
As a your typical work assignments may include:
Maintain oversight of existing policies and procedures and implements new policies and procedures.
Research and/or analyze problems, issues, or program and administrative requirements.
Serve as the point of contact for staff integration, special projects, administrative coordination, and dissemination of information.
Organize and compose executive-level correspondence, memoranda, and reports, and research and gather data and informational materials.
Provide financial support for the Office of the Administrator to include front office inspections, internal controls, travel logistics and financial management programs.
Participate in special projects, public activities, agency initiatives and performs special assignments.

Applicants must meet all of the required qualification requirements described below by the closing of this announcement. If you are qualifying based on education or if there are mandatory education requirements listed below, you MUST submit a copy of your college transcript with your application.
GS-11: Applicants applying for the GS-11 must meet one of the following requirements:
A. Have at least one full year of qualifying specialized experience that is at least equivalent in difficulty and complexity to work performed at the GS-09 grade level performing the following duties:1) Receiving and reviewing incoming correspondence prepared for the signature and approval of senior management; 2) Tracking requests and communication to ensure timely and accurate responses; 3) coordinating policy activities, analyzing logistical issues and recommending alternatives; and 4) Developing internal operating procedures to ensure efficiency and consistency with administrative and office procedures; OR
B. Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related OR
C. A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
GS-12: Applicants applying for theGS-12must have at least one full year of qualifying specialized experience that is at least equivalent in difficulty and complexity to work performed at the GS-11 grade level performing the following duties: 1) Planning, developing and recommending changes in administrative procedures; 2) receiving and reviewing correspondence for clarity, consistency, completeness, and compliance and tracking all suspense correspondence, 3) conducting research on a variety of documents to gather, correlate, and analyze data and information to develop recommendations to resolve problems and to improve efficiency, and 4) preparing and maintaining financial obligation documents and obligating and liquidating expenditures and transactions.
Specialized experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
