About the Position: Serves as the Team Lead for the Material Movement/In-Transit Warehouse Section with responsibility for directing, coordinating, analyzing, controlling and evaluating cargo services for the installation.

Duties

Instruct employees in specific shipment and receiving tasks and makes available written work instructions, reference materials and supplies. Plan and coordinate work of the Material Movements Section and In-transit Warehouse distributing and balancing the workload among employees to ensure timely shipment of freight of all kinds. Determine the most efficient and economical rates and routings on a large number or various commodities for shipment to destinations both within the United States and to some worldwide overseas locations. Determine proper freight classification for a large variety of commodities by using available classification guides or by analogy for materials without established classification.

Requirements

  • Secret Clearance Required.
  • Work may involve shift work, weekends, or holidays.
  • This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain a valid Government Driver’s License.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain appropriate HAZMAT Certification Training as detailed in the Defense Transportation Regulation 4500.9-r within three months of starting this position.
  • May be required to work Army Power Projection Platform (AP3) Operations utilizing a skill that is classified no higher than the current grade.
  • Weather Essential, may be required to report during inclement weather events to prepare facilities for reopening.

OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in accounting, business administration, business or commercial law, commerce, economics, engineering, finance, industrial management, statistics, traffic management, transportation, motor mechanics, or other fields related to the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Oral CommunicationOrganizational AwarenessTechnical CompetenceTransportation Policy and Regulation Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
