About the Position: Performs work in support of deployment activities as well as systems administration work providing support and administration to Transportation Coordinator's Automated Information for Movement System (TC- AIMS II) to Joint Operation Planning and Execution System (JOPES), Integrated Computerized Deployment System (ICODES) and Cargo Management Operations System (CMOS) among others. Responds to inquiries on transportation management policies, principles, and practices.

Duties

Responsible for the work of assigned personnel. Responsible for procurement of common carrier and other transportation services by rail, motor, air, water and miscellaneous means for movement of freight and personnel and support to deploying/redeploying units as required to meet all timelines. Supervises and directs the work operations for the branch involving 14 employees in three distinct work centers on the installation. Serves as the Mobilization Manager for Transportation Activities within the Army Regulation (AR) 5-9 areas and on the installation. Supports the rapid deployment mission of the 10th Mountain Division (LI), transportation/deployment readiness, placing demands on the incumbent to research and recommend new methods and procedures for work accomplishment. On behalf of the Installation Transportation Officer, inspects activities for conformance with policy, regulatory, and program requirements, and recommends, initiates, advises on or recommends corrective actions necessary.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • May be required to work Army Power Projection Platform (AP3) Operations utilizing a skill that is classified no higher than the current grade.
  • Work may involve shift work, weekends or holidays.
  • May require up to 25% Temporary Duty Travel (TDY).

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes interprets a variety of traffic regulations as applied to specific transportation matters AND provides solutions to difficult and unprecedented transportation problems requiring extensive knowledge of complex transportation methods. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
