The incumbent serves as a Program Specialist in the Radiology service. She/He works at the Salt Lake City VA, UT. The incumbent will be assigned to work at the George E. Wahlen VA Medical Center hospital facility which offers several special medical programs to include Centers of Specialized Expertise, Home Health Services, Homeless Veteran Services, (ICU) Services, Pharmacy Specialized Services, Rurality, Spinal Cord Injury, Telehealth, and Women's Health Centers.
Duties
Primary timekeeper, utilizing the VATAS time management program to track and record time and on call schedules for over 80 Radiology personnel and support staff.
Compiles various VITSA program reports, such as Abnormal Radiology exam reports, Out-Patient wait time reports, and critical daily service management reports, radiology Patient appointment cancellation list.
Knowledge and skill in applying analytical and evaluative methods and techniques to plan and conduct limited factual studies and analyses concerning the efficiency and effectiveness of medical facility health care operations; and to formulate recommendation to modify procedures and practices to improve the effectiveness of administrative services.
Knowledge of the issues, program goals and objectives, work processes, and administrative operations of the organization to determine ways to improve customer satisfaction. Knowledge of interpersonal skills to present recommendations that improve patient and staff services in Radiology.
Independent judgment in analyzing, fact-finding, and recommending solutions to problems. Completed work is reviewed for technical soundness, appropriateness, and conformance to policies and requirements.
Supports Radiology with various programs word processing, filing, referring phone calls, locating policies, and program work of a more varied and substantive nature (e.g., preparing special reports based on gathering and interpreting information from the staff and the files, performing office automation duties which require a variety of software and differing methods and approaches, and setting up meetings and conferences).
Promotion Potential: The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level.
Work Schedule: 08:00am-4:30 pm Monday-Friday

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 12/30/2024.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-09 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-07. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.

GS-09:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-07 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Acting as the liaison for VA staff, community hospitals and providers, vendors and Veterans; Assisting in the development of policies and operating procedures as well as long- and short-range goals for service programs. OR,
Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree. OR,
Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have a combination of specialized experience and education beyond listed above.

Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary. Some standing, bending and light lifting, under 15 pounds, light carrying, under 15 pounds, items such as books, medical records and paper may be required.
