The purpose of this position is to perform administrative and program analysis work and ensure program compliance for Veterans in the Caregiver Support Program (CSP). The Caregiver Support Program (CSP) is one of the Veterans Health Administration's (VHA) most rapidly growing service areas, as a result of infrastructure modernization, programming innovation, and expansion of population-served by the Program of Comprehensive Assistance for Family Caregivers (PCAFC) under the MISSION Act.
Duties
Duties:
The PSA is responsible for reviewing PCAFC applications, assign initial intake assessments, assists facilitate cases for local clinical eligibility team, local and Veteran's Integrated Services Network (VISN) level appeal process, and also assists with workload and other data-driven reports. Incumbent assists with new staff onboarding process, serves as CSP timekeeper, performs various clerical duties such as reminder calls and mailing correspondence, assists with action items and the implementation of new processes; assists with program events such as National Caregiver Support Month, Annual CSP Summit and the like. The incumbent will interface with personal computer (PC) applications, databases, and apps.
Able to process incoming and outgoing materials such as correspondence, reports memorandums, and other forms of written communication.
Responsible for composing and editing letters for accuracy and completeness based upon programmatic expectations and guidelines.
Prepares presentations, outlines/slides, develops formal letters and replies to inquiries.
Familiar with preparing reports using database, to collect, compile, analyze and present data regarding the integrity of the program.
Maintains and posts time and attendance reports for CSP staff using the automated system and in accordance with established procedures; maintains leave calendar; and posts projected leave to the calendar.
Provides customer service with consistent information according to established program policies and procedures.
Handles conflict and problems in dealing with customers constructively and appropriately.
The position requires excellent relational and communication skills; advanced knowledge of and experience with computers; oral and written communication skills and the ability to work with others; particularly military populations and caregivers that help these populations.
Provides technical support and data entry and tracking into CARMA and other VA tracking / spreadsheets for data management.
Must possess the ability to apply basic analytical methods to interpret data and recognize errors and deviations.
Troubleshoots technical problems users have with software packages and hardware issues.
Develop and maintain financial spreadsheets, ensuring appropriate utilization of funds and making certain that there are not budget deficits and be responsible for reporting this information to management.
Knowledge of medical terminology and usages. Utilizes appropriate spelling and grammar and proficient use of Microsoft applications.
Familiar with reviewing a variety applications, assign initial intake assessments, assists facilitate cases for local clinical eligibility team, local and Veteran's Integrated Services Network (VISN) level appeal process, and also assists with workload and other data-driven reports.
Able to obtain as much information as possible, provides information and resolves problems independently when possible, prioritizes, and makes decisions regarding caller referral based on specific caller needs.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm. Work schedule subject to change based on agency needs.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 01/03/2025.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-7 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-6. The grade may have been in any occupation but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.

You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include but are not limited to: Providing administrative support functions within a healthcare facility; experienced with procurement processes necessary to obtain goods and services for an office; performing automation duties using such software applications such as word processing, spreadsheet, electronic mail, desktop publishing, calendar, database and/or graphics; assisting in the formulation and execution of budget estimates to include updating budget spreadsheets which are used in briefings; collecting, compiling and tracking data and information; and researching reference materials, regulations, and standards to identify appropriate action necessary to correct problems or issues.

Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items such as papers, books, small parts, or driving an automobile, etc. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.

Education
