This position is located in Field Operations Directorate, Office of Field Operations, District 23, Jacksonville FL Field Office. As an Immigration Services Officer, you will adjudicate complex and precedent setting cases, provide oversight to lower level Officers and perform analytical and evaluative work associated with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) program activities.

Duties

Adjudicating complex cases, conducting security checks, identifying fraud, interviewing applicants and petitioners, ensuring program quality assurance, conducting training and liaising and communicating decisions. Analyzing the effectiveness of existing and proposed standards, regulations and policies. Assuming authority on the adjudication of cases involving national security and egregious public safety concerns. Independently conducting legal research and preparing briefs, position papers, legal decisions and opinions, notices of intent, notices to appear in removal proceedings and motions/responses to the court. Developing standard operating policies and procedures designed to detect and prevent benefit fraud and monitor progress to determine if objectives are being met.

This position is with the United States Citizenship and Immigrations Services located in sunny Jacksonville, FL, which is a part of the Field Operations Directorate. The Jacksonville Field Office is also a part of the S23 Sunshine District in Florida. The other field offices within S23 are Tampa, Orlando, Fort Myers, and West Palm Beach. Jacksonville is located on the Atlantic coast of northeastern Florida. The field office is only minutes away from several Atlantic beaches. Jacksonville is in Duval County, which is the northern most county in Florida. Jacksonville is a great place to live, thanks to the excellent weather, beach access, sports venues, incredible restaurants, and its affordability. Jacksonville is ranked the number 16th place to live in the country. The qualifications for this position must be met by 11:59 PM (Eastern Time) on 12/30/2024. Current Federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the lower grade or equivalent grade band in the Federal service. The Time-in-Grade requirement must be met by 11:59 PM (Eastern Time) on 12/30/2024. GS-13: You qualify at the GS-13 level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience, which is equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the federal government, that equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. You must have experience performing the following duties: Making final determinations on complex and sensitive immigration cases. Reviewing immigration cases for fraud and national security concerns and rendering decisions. Providing training, coaching, or mentoring to ensure quality and consistency in the immigration adjudications process.
