This position is located in the Environmental Management Service at the VA Medical Center in Oklahoma City, OK.

Duties

***THIS IS NOT A VIRTUAL POSITION, YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN OR BE WILLING TO RELOCATE WITHIN A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE OF THE DUTY LOCATION*** Advises, supervises, or performs work involving the development, coordination, direction, and management of hospital housekeeping operations and personnel Maintains environmental sanitation within acceptable levels of bacteriological and visual cleanliness conducted by environmental personnel Oversees all laundry and linen services Plans, organizes, conducts, and manages an effective hospital housekeeping program Manages a linen delivery system with local contractors for the cleaning of linen, inventory, and employee uniforms Orders and distributes uniforms for selected personnel Establishes work standards and develops/revises work-flow procedures Reviews, analyzes, and provides recommendations regarding Environment of Care (EOC) practices and criteria in all administrative and clinical areas Participates on workgroups, conference calls, Microsoft Teams, and multiple committees Performs assignments and projects concerning the operations of a healthcare delivery system Uses data, analytical methods, and procedures to analyze problems, implement solutions, and evaluate impact Supervises housekeeping operations and oversees the cleaning and disinfecting of the hospital campus Determines the need for specialized cleaning supplies, equipment, and methods for ensuring an adequate EOC for humans and animals Oversees contracts related to pest control services, textiles management, sanitation and waste management Establishes standards, schedules, and completes reports to ensure proper precautions and regulatory agency requirements are met Develops and maintains an effective waste removal program Interviews and selects applicants for appointment and promotion, evaluates performance, maintains discipline, trains, orients, and motivates employees Plans and schedules work to gain the most effective and efficient utilization of personnel to achieve the operational goals of the service Performs related duties as required. Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS GS-12: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position, and that is typically in or related to the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in Federal service, Specialized experience includes: directing a cleaning program designed to maintain the visual and bacteriological cleanliness of the hospital environment. Oversee support programs, such as: Occupational Work Therapy, EEO, Labor Organization Procedures, Employee Disciplinary Measures, Affirmative Action Plans, Suggestions, and Incentive Awards Programs, Practical knowledge of the basic principles of chemistry, biology and bacteriology as applied to environmental sanitation, infection control, and choice and use of cleaning agents and equipment. Responsible for regulated medical waste management, linen/uniform management, and the integrated pest management along with contact administration budget, personnel, and labor relations. This experience must be detailed in your resume to receive credit. Physical Requirements/Work Environment: Work involves long periods of walking between various areas of the medical center, as well as bending, stooping, and moving equipment. The work environment is principally within the confines of the hospital and is climate controlled.
