About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the ST-IC-W3XTAA CASCOM SCOE.

Duties

Supports the Special Security Officer (SSO) in the administration of all aspects of the Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) security program for the Senior Intelligence Officer (SIO). Drafts SCIF documentation, such as emergency action plans, to enhance operational security readiness. Monitors and reports on the status of SCI materials to ensure proper handling, safeguarding, and compliance with established protocols. Maintains and update personnel security records to reflect accurate access levels and clearance statuses. Conducts eligibility screenings for SCI indoctrination and debrief personnel upon termination of access. Evaluates facility construction projects to ensure compliance with SCIF accreditation standards and physical security requirements Develops and implement procedures for maintaining security in collateral spaces, including regular inspections and reporting. Oversees the secure transportation of classified materials by implementing risk mitigation strategies and verifying courier credentials. Conducts audits of unit-level INFOSEC practices to identify and address deficiencies in the handling of sensitive information. Develops targeted security training curricula to address specific needs of personnel, ensuring alignment with SETA program objectives. Tracks and analyze training completion data to identify trends and recommend improvements to the security education program.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret (TS) security clearance with eligibility for sensitive compartmented information (SCI) based on a Tier 5 investigation/Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI).
  • In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • May require Temporary Duty Travel (TDY) up to 25% of the time.
  • This position has been identified for the Security Professional Education Development (SPeD) Certification Program. For more information, see note below in Additional Information.
  • Two year trial/probationary period may be required.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GG/GS-11). Specialized experience is progressively responsible intelligence-related security work directly related to the position being filled. Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector or in another government agency as long as it was at a level at least equivalent to the next lower band in the series.
