This position is in the Office of the Executive Director, which is responsible for the full range of management, administrative, and program support for all FSI component organizations. The incumbent serves as the Director for Student Services to provide FSI-wide support for all students for a wide range of administrative services and programs.
Duties
Develops and executes annual strategic plans aligning student services initiatives with FSI's mission and objectives and EX's strategies and goals. Identifies opportunities to enhance student and family support
programs.
Provide senior-level leadership and management to a small group of federal employees (and several
contractors), each responsible for different portfolios of support services.
Plans work to be accomplished and sets priorities for subordinates based upon workload and abilities; sets
performance standards; evaluates performance and counsels' employees.
Serves as the primary liaison with FSI stakeholders, including FSI senior leadership, component leadership,
and EX leadership, faculty, program coordinators, other support divisions, and the federal interagency.
Sets clear goals and objectives, mentors staff to foster professional growth and development and recruits and
hires staff as needed. Encourages continuous learning and professional development for staff.
Requirements

- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.

Qualifications
Applicants must meet all the required qualification requirements described below by the closing date of this announcement.
NOTE: Applicants must meet time-in-grade and time after competitive appointment requirements, by the closing date of this announcement.
Time-In-Grade Requirements: Federal applicants must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade to satisfy time-in-grade restrictions, per 5CFR 300, Subpart F.
Applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level in the Federal service which provided the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position. Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience overseeing and directing a broad range of student support services that include planning, implementing, and evaluating on-site and online services that support students and their families.
Experience formulating, modifying, and establishing overall strategic goals and objectives that defines planning and projection of resource requirements.
Experience documenting and implementing best practices and quality control measures to enhance efficiency, security, and accountability in service delivery and compliance with overall rules, regulations, policies and procedures governing these services.
There is no substitute of education for specialized experience for the GS-15 position.
In addition, applicant's experience must also demonstrate that the candidate possesses the following qualities:
Ability to assign, review, and supervise the work of others;
Objectivity and fairness in judging people on their ability, and situations on the facts and circumstances;
Ability to adjust to change, work pressures, or difficult situations without undue stress;
Willingness to consider new ideas or divergent points of view; and
Capacity to "see the job through.
