You will serve as an Outreach and Engagement Specialist for the Disaster Public Affairs and Communications Division in Washington, District of Columbia. The position ensures effective planning, operation, evaluation, and communication with ODR&R Field Offices and serves the headquarters point of contact for all public sector engagements including, all other federal agencies and state entities, as well as federal, state, and local elected officials.
Duties
As an Outreach and Engagement Specialist at the GS-0301-13, some of your typical work assignments may include:
Coordinating and maintaining cooperative relationships with public sector organizations to ensure smooth partnership.
Maintaining awareness of communication, policies, procedures, regulations, and legislative actions relevant to the agency's disaster assistance program.
Coordinating the DR&R organizational structure to gather background and develop written and visual materials (as necessary) for internal and external audiences during the cycle of disaster declarations.
Establishing products for internal and external use when necessary, focusing on disaster victim centric information, training exercises, or other presentations.
Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with staff in other offices within SBA and its resource partners and with other agencies involved in disaster operations.

Mandatory Overtime: In order to respond quickly and efficiently to disaster survivors, substantial compensated overtime hours may be required heighten Disaster Activities.
If required to travel to a disaster site, you may encounter hazardous working and/or living conditions, for example, no water or electricity and/or minimal lodging facilities.

Qualifications
Experience:
To receive credit, you must indicate the month and year as well as the average hours worked per week for each employer. Average work hours must be stated on the resume to quantify each period of work experience or that experience will not be credited toward meeting the specialized experience requirement.
You must address the specific specialized experience required for each grade level of this position on your resume or application or you will be rated "Ineligible" for that grade level.
GS-13: One year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service, obtained in either the private or public sector. In addition, this Specialized Experience must demonstrate ALL the following:
Experience analyzing and evaluating the effectiveness of a disaster assistance program or policy in meeting established goals and objectives; and
Experience analyzing new or proposed emergency management legislation or regulations to determine impact on program operations and management; and
Experience drafting written summaries to convey information; and
Experience planning, implementing, managing, and/or reporting activities; and
Experience communicating with internal and external stakeholders regarding an organization/agency's program.
