As a Deputy Comptroller for Community Affairs, you will serve as a key advisor to the Senior Deputy Comptroller for Bank Supervision Policy in the areas of community development, financial access, community reinvestment, community affairs outreach.
This position is located in BSP, Community Affairs group located in Washington, DC.
Duties
As a Deputy Comptroller for Community Affairs, you will:
Serve as expert advisor to the SDC for BSP, the Comptroller, and senior staff on all matters involving community development, financial access and community affairs issues affecting the Federal banking system and the OCC's regulatory and supervisory responsibilities and identify important issues and problems and recommend appropriate policies and actions by OCC.
Support OCC functions through activities with OCC staff, banks, government representatives, community leaders, consumer organization representatives and community development industry. Direct staff in developing publications and providing expert technical assistance to OCC staff and to national banks and FSA's on community and economic development and financial access issues and activities.
Formulate specific communication approaches and maintain contact with representatives from national and regional community and banking organizations, and government to ensure the OCC's positions on community and economic development issues are effectively communicated.
Provide senior management with the perspectives of community and consumer organizations on banking issues. Coordinate data gathering and dissemination with regional office officials and other supervision business units. Direct staff in maintaining and providing high quality data and analysis in support of CRA and consumer compliance functions. Develop, prepare and submit reports and analyses to OCC management and other government agencies.
Plan and assign work to be accomplished by direct reports and subordinate supervisors. Make decisions on work problems elevated by subordinates. Provide advice and counsel on work and administrative matters. Evaluate performance in accordance with OCC guidelines; make personnel decisions regarding hiring, promotions, adverse actions, etc.; and provide training and development opportunities, in accordance with delegated authority and perform the above duties following equal employment opportunity principles.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements within 30 calendar days after the closing date of this announcement:
You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the NB-VII band level. Examples of specialized experience for this position include:
Experience leading a team that organizes outreach, training events, and provides insight and information on community and economic development finance topics including community development (CD), Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) activities and engagements, and/or financial inclusion programs/initiatives, AND
Experience building relationships/partnerships with community stakeholders to promote fair access to financial services and increase financial inclusion.
The experience may have been gained in the public sector, private sector, or through volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.
