This Direct-Hire position is in the Food and Drug Administration and is located in the National Center for Toxicological Research (NCTR), Office of Research, Division of Microbiology (DM), which serves a multipurpose function with specialized expertise to perform fundamental and applied research in microbiology in the area of FDA's responsibility in toxicology and to respond to microbial surveillance and diagnostic needs for research projects within NCTR and FDA.

Duties

Contributes significantly to the knowledge of the safety of U.S. food supplies, and the development of preventative strategies and therapies for foodborne diseases. Conducts research and addresses critical knowledge gaps in several priority research areas of NCTR and FDA. Provides supervision to visiting scientists, ORISE Fellows and supports scientists and high school students who are engaged in research in the Division of Microbiology or other Divisions in NCTR. Provides orientation, technical assistance, and mentorship to scientists and assigns various tasks related to the research projects.

Qualifications

The position of Research Biologist falls under the 0401 occupational series. To qualify for this position at grade GS-14, you must meet all requirements by 11:59 pm EST on 01/03/2025. Basic Requirements A. Have a degree in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry or related disciplines appropriate to the position. OR B. FOREIGN EDUCATION
