The primary purpose of this position is to erve as a Sexual Assault/Sexual Harassment Victim Advocate to eligible installation level military, civilians, and dependents.
Duties
Serves as an installation Sexual Assault/Sexual Harassment Victim Advocate.
Maintains support and follow-up contact with sexual assault/sexual harassment victims throughout the lifecycle of the case.
Assists the installation SARC in the development and delivery of comprehensive sexual assault/sexual harassment training.
Represents the SAPR installation program both military and civilian agencies.

- Employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, to include evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or an on-call status.
- Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft/vehicle to conferences, meetings, or functions away from the duty office/location. Travel may include overnight stays.
- Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
- Must obtain and maintain DoD Sexual Assault Advocate Certification and recertification from the National Organization of Victim Assistance (NOVA), as specified in DoD and AF policy.
- The work requires the employee to drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate, valid driver’s license is required for the position.

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Professional and Scientific Positions.
BASIC REQUIREMENT: Degree: behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position.
OR
Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
OR
Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-7, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes knowledge of a wide range of social science and social work principles, concepts, and practices relating to victim advocacy and prevention of and response to sexual assault/sexual harassment; knowledge of social service delivery systems, methods, and theories relating to victim advocacy, sexual assault/sexual harassment. EDUCATION: Completed 1 YEAR of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree with study disciplines in behavioral or social sciences which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR
COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: Combination of experience and education. Note: You must submit a copy of official transcripts
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the NH-II (GS-04) level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the NH-02 (GS-05-11) level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of a wide range of social science and social work principles, concepts, and practices relating to victim advocacy and prevention of and response to sexual assault/sexual harassment; Ability to identify problems and use sound judgment and decisions to generate and evaluate alternatives and make recommendations.
2. Knowledge of laws, regulations, executive orders, issues, etc., to include the Air Force organizational structure, management policies, methods, and practices relating to sexual assault/sexual harassment victim advocacy, and related interpersonal violence.
3. Knowledge of social service delivery systems, methods, and theories relating to victim advocacy, sexual assault/sexual harassment; Ability to organize work, set priorities, and determine resource requirements; determine goals and strategies to achieve them; coordinate with other organizations; monitor progress, and evaluate outcomes.
4. Knowledge of training and education techniques to implement and deliver sexual assault/sexual harassment training; Skill in working with customers to assess needs, provide assistance, resolve problems, and satisfy expectations.
5. Skill in applying tact and diplomacy during interactions with internal and external officials during difficult and sensitive circumstances and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with organizations and individuals to identify, establish, modify and provide victim support/assistance; Ability to persuade others to accept recommendations, work toward an agreement, and negotiate mutually acceptable solutions.
6. Ability to employ various methods and techniques typical of a sexual assault/sexual harassment victim advocate program, including crisis intervention, situational assessment, and analyzing the needs of the victim to provide support and/or assistance to them in the resolution of complex problems; Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships and to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
