This vacancy is for a Deputy Director in the Minority Business Development Agency within the Department of Commerce.
Duties
As a Deputy Director, you will perform the following duties:
Lead the development and analysis of policies aimed at improving access to capital, procurement opportunities, global markets, technical assistance, and overall economic empowerment for minority-owned businesses.
Work closely with other MBDA offices and federal agencies to develop comprehensive policy solutions that address the full spectrum of challenges faced by minority-owned businesses, including access to capital, technology, and markets.
Manage and mentor staff within the Office of Strategy and Legislative Affairs. Ensure that the team delivers high-quality work products, meets deadlines, and advances the strategic goals of MBDA.
Draft high-level policy reports, position papers, and briefings for senior leadership, Congress, and other key stakeholders. Ensure timely and accurate communication of MBDA's legislative and policy initiatives.

Qualifications

Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and responsibility to the next lower grade level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. This experience need not have been in the federal government.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies; knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
To qualify at the GS14 level:
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: You must possess one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as:
Provides leadership in policy development, legislative affairs, and intergovernmental relations;
Serves as primary point of contact for monitoring, analyzing and advising on federal and state legislative actions impacting minority businesses; AND
Leads efforts to secure and increase funding for minority businesses by working with legislative and intergovernmental partners.
