This vacancy is for a GS-1801-12, Supervisory General Inspection Investigation and Compliance Specialist located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, OPERATING LOCATION-NMC REGIONAL EAM CENTER-CHARLESTON SC. Duties

You will serve as a Supervisory General Inspection Investigation and Compliance Specialist and be responsible for the Merchant Mariner Licensing and Documentation (MMLD) Program, a Coast Guard Program with national impact, approximately 60,000 individuals apply for merchant mariner credentials each year. The incumbent manages the operations and functions of one of seventeen Regional Examination Centers, providing advisory services and administration for merchant mariner credentialing program. Position provides technical and advisory services and are responsible for administration of the merchant mariner credentialing program in their assigned regions.

Qualifications

To qualify at the GS-12 grade level, applicants must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the federal sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Specialized experience must include the following: Managing an office setting and carrying out supervisory responsibilities for the workforce including hiring employees, issuing work assignments, and completing periodic employee evaluations. Establishing and maintaining effective relationships with the public through customer service and outreach activities. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. NOTE: Education cannot be substituted for experience at this grade level.
