This position is located in Management Directorate, Office of Human Capital and Training, Training and Career Development Division, Academy Training Center. As an Assistant Director, you will initiate, plan and manage the development and delivery of highly technical and professional immigration training programs which have national and international significance. You will be responsible for the supervision and administration of the supervisory instructor staff and their body of work.

Duties

Serve as the Program Manager over Academy Training Center (ATC) Training Programs facilitating the creation, coordination, technical direction, and training of programs. Participate in all phases of Academy Training Center management and operations including organization, administration, direction, and coordination of the operations. Provide technical and administrative supervision to the Supervisory Immigration Services Officer Instructors who supervise the permanent instructors, detailed instructors, and students in specialized training programs. Evaluate subordinate referrals on students' conduct and academic matters. Resolve complaints and grievances that can be resolved at the Assistant Director level and refer others to the Academy Deputy Director with recommendations. Plan and organize work assignments and establish priorities to assure that schedules and deadlines are met. Evaluate effectiveness of instructors, initiating corrective measures when necessary. 8. Prepare performance appraisals, reports and other related documentation.

Qualifications

The qualifications for this position must be met by 11:59 PM (Eastern Time) on 02/21/2024. Current Federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the lower grade or equivalent grade band in the Federal service. The Time-in-Grade requirement must be met by 11:59 PM (Eastern Time) on 02/21/2024. GS-14: You qualify at the GS-14 level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience, which is equivalent to at least the GS-13 level in the federal government, that equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. You must have experience performing the following duties: Providing technical and administrative oversight to programs administering training and career development. Reviewing and maintaining courses, workshops and seminars covering a broad spectrum of subject material that includes all areas of Immigration and Nationality Law and Procedures. Analyzing and implementing issues related to the establishment of program goals and objectives and establishing long-range work plans and determining the actions necessary to accomplish these objectives. Managing oversight for an agency's administrative functions, such as personnel management, labor relations, training, financial management, facilities, property management, health and safety, and emergency preparedness.
