This position is located in the Office of Field Operations, Regulatory Operations, Raleigh District. The district office is responsible for the overall management of an inspection and enforcement program involving meat, poultry, and egg products in one or several states. The incumbent of this position has responsibility for coordinating a variety of staffing and related functions to ensure proper and adequate coverage of inspection assignments.

Duties

Maintains records and documentation. Authorizes and audits travel vouchers. Coordinates travel advances. Maintains liaison with Fleet Services Representatives. Functions as a liaison with OHR to initiate recruitment for new or vacant positions. Compiles staffing projections for use by the Resource Manager. Provides staffing reports for higher management. Monitors time and attendance reports.

Requirements

  • Subject to satisfactory adjudication of background investigation and/or fingerprint check.

  • May be subject to satisfactory completion of one year probationary or trial period.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements (including specialized experience and/or education) by the closing date of the announcement, as defined below: Time in grade: Applicants must meet one year at the next lower grade to be considered for the next higher grade (e.g. one year at the GS-05 grade level for consideration at the GS-07 grade level) For the GS-07 level: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 level that demonstrates: Assisting in researching and interpreting basic regulations and guides Assisting in the development of staffing reports Answering routine inquires on personnel and management issues employees and other customers Maintaining and coordinating calendars and events Managing personnel files, training, leave, staffing or other administrative requirements For the GS-09 level: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level that demonstrates: Researching inquiries and providing guidance and services to customers at multiple levels related to staffing Maintaining personnel management and file/records management Coordinating training and providing input or recommendations for training requirements Researching and interpreting basic regulations and guides. Education

Applicants can also qualify at the GS-7 level via education in one of the ways listed below:
  • One full year of graduate level education.
  • Superior academic achievement: S.A.A. is based on (1) class standing, (2) grade-point average, or (3) honor society membership.
Applicants can also qualify at the GS-9 level via education in one of the ways listed below:
  • Master's or equivalent graduate degree
  • Two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such degree;
  • LL.B. or J.D., if related.

If education is required or being used to qualify, you must submit a copy of your college transcripts.
