Qualifications
NOTE: You must meet qualification requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
To qualify for the GS-13 level, you must have 1 year of full-time* specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level defined as coordinating inspections; providing regulatory compliance assistance; and serving as a technical expert to maintain environmental compliance.
Your answers to the online assessment will be used to evaluate your competencies in the following areas:
Knowledge of pollution control technologies.
Knowledge of environmental compliance and enforcement.
Knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental laws, regulations, policies, and practices.
Skill in conducting field inspections for enforcement cases.
Ability to evaluate facility operations, processes, and waste streams.
Skill in written communication.
Skill in oral communication.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
