This position is part of the Official Journals of Government, Government Publishing Office in Washington, District of Columbia.
Duties
Using of automated processes, research skills, and editorial and writing skills to quickly accomplish final products.
Performing the full range of indexing functions and prepares written information that is ready for publishing online and in printed publications.
Performing work independently and is relied on to conduct necessary research to ensure that information developed is accurate and timely.
Following accepted agency publication practices and precedents and adapting them to carry out specific writing and editing assignments.
Requirements
- You must be a current Career or Career Conditional GPO employee to apply.
- Selectee may be required to pass preemployment requirements prior to appointment.
- Selectee must be able to obtain and maintain Non-Sensitive, Low Risk Security Clearance.
- Selectee may be required to serve a one year probationary period.
- TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must meet time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. Applicants must have served 1 year at the next lower grade level or equivalent grade level of federal service to qualify
Qualifications
To qualify for the Senior Congressional Record Index Specialist (Editor), PG - 0301 - 12 , you must meet the following requirements:
Applicant must have 1 year of specialized experience at the PG-11 (or equivalent) level or higher. Specialized experience includes: (1) Understanding of the Congressional Record Index process, to include reading and analyzing large volumes of data, extracting pertinent information for purposes of creating Index items.; AND (2) Advising others on technical issues related to the Index development process.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement (12/23/2024) to be considered.
Education
Substitution of education in lieu of specialized experience may not be used for this grade level.
