The typical seasonal period for these positions is May thru November, but can be variable during these months due to weather conditions, project needs, or funding. Anticipated Entry on Duty: May 2025
Duties
This is an open continuous vacancy announcement. Applicants will be referred periodically throughout the announcement period. Final application disposition will be completed once all positions have been filled or the announcement reaches the end of the open period stated in the announcement. The first cut-off date is 11:59 pm (EST), January 17, 2025.
Maintenance and construction of graded and paved trails, trail drainage, trail bridges, and guard rails.
Engage in the installation, repair and replacement of water diversion bars, cribbing and retainer walls.
Remove windfalls, rock slides, surface outcroppings, and debris from trails.
Build up tread surfaces in eroded areas.
Install stepping stones at creek crossings where bridges cannot be constructed.
Safely and effectively use hand power tools required for the job and has the ability maintain these tools properly.

Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic)
Use Of Measuring Instruments
Knowledge Of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc.
Ability To Use And Maintain Tools and Equipment
Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc (includes blueprinting reading)
Knowledge of Materials

Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision. (SCREEN OUT): Knowledge and experience assisting with constructing and maintaining various trail related features, experience using an assortment of trail related tools, any trail tasks performed have been under direct supervision, limited experience with small equipment.

There is no substitution of education for experience for Wage Grade (WG) positions.
