Maintenance Mechanic located in Acadia National Park, in the Maintenance Division.
Career-Seasonal appointments are permanent positions and include the same benefits as Career appointments, but do not provide work on a year-round basis. You will work from approximately April to October, and you will be in a non-pay status for the remainder of the year.
Duties
Monitors and controls the water treatment process at numerous small water systems throughout the park, including testing, repairs, and installation of water treatment equipment.
Performs general building maintenance on historic and non-historic buildings.
Performs a wide array of painting duties including prepping surfaces, application of a wide range of paints/stains, and sheetrock installation and repairs.
Performs carpentry duties such as maintenance/repair/installation of siding, roofing, decking systems, windows, doors, cabinets, shelving, trim, and flooring.
Works with lower graded employees during the performance of most work to provide skills/development training.
Actively participates in planning and implementation of project objectives, demonstrating a strong sense of teamwork and collaboration.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors. You must meet level 2 on the screen out factor/element and an average of level 2 on all factors/elements. All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement. Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sectors:
Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision (SCREEN OUT)
Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (other than blueprints)
Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment
Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation Repair, etc.
Knowledge of materials
Technical Practices (theoretical precise, artistic)
Use of Measuring Instruments
Examples of experience for this position include: working with and caring for common power and hand tools, working with materials, and performing tasks associated with carpentry, plumbing, painting, roofing, and water/wastewater operation.
