Career-Seasonal appointments are permanent positions and include the same benefits as Career appointments, but do not provide work on a year-round basis. Anticipated Entry on Duty is March, and the season will conclude in November. You will be in non-pay from Pay Period 25 (12/01/2024) until Pay Period 5 (03/09/2025) for the remainder of the year, dependent on park work needs, budget and/or weather. Though non-pay time may be reduced to a minimum of 1 pay period in accordance with NPS policy.

Duties

MAJOR DUTIES: Responsible for providing information to the Maintenance supervisor in daily, weekly and bi-weekly scheduling of a work crew or crews involved. Responds to daily on-site planning and leadership of campgrounds and visitor use areas; minor carpentry; painting; minor plumbing, landscape work, sanitation; and janitorial duties. Works with Supervisor on coordination; transportation of equipment to and from the site. Estimates personnel and equipment needs and order supplies via his/her supervisor to achieve objective. Monitors work performance for accuracy, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) compliance, safety, and acceptable quality and quantity of production.

Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sectors: Ability to Lead or Supervise(SCREEN OUT). Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc. Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic). Use of Measuring Instruments. Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (includes blueprint reading). Ability to Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment. Knowledge of Materials. For this position, the work is defined as: full range of maintenance worker duties associated with more than one trade such as carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical and other trades appropriate to this position.
