Duties
The United States Space Force (USSF) Space Systems Command (SSC) Fleet Marine Force (FMF) is searching for a Financial Improvement Audit Remediation (FIAR) Technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) at Los Angeles Space Force Base, California (NH-0501-03, GS 12/13 equivalent).
Description:
This senior position offers a unique opportunity to serve in one of the USSF's top focus areas as we look to leverage satellite acquisitions for the nation's defense. This position will oversee Financial Improvement and Audit Readiness internal and external audits. You'll interface with various external organizations and HHQ (e.g. SSC/FM, SAF/FMBOR, and SAF/SQS). Implement audit guidance, regulations, and policy in accordance with FIAR Guidance, FMR, OMB A-123, GAGAS, and GAAP. Support USSF financial statement reporting and account validation. Lead coordination efforts to ensure risk management procedures are effective and efficient in all Program Executive Offices. Remediate Notices of Findings and Recommendations through Corrective Action Plans. Oversee internal audits of assessable units within SSC to ensure audit readiness for our Accounting Property Systems of Record and ensure Key Supporting Documentation retention. Audits include all aspects of our business causing this position to be dynamic and rewarding. You'll be integral in leading the USSF to a clean audit opinion as Space Force aligns itself under their own financial statement reporting. The ideal candidate will possess experience leading teams and be able to take calculated risks. Be creative about how they bring new solutions to old problems and look outside the system. Must be innovative with their ability to push the financial management envelope and shift paradigms. Effective Communication skills are necessary to listen and communicate with a wide range of people across roles, geographies and social identities. The ability to understand complex issues and assess risks to make decisions is a must.
Key Skills and Abilities:
1. Extensive knowledge of financial management and program objectives, Financial Improvement and Audit Remediation objectives, guidelines and regulations.
2. Knowledge of Space Systems Command organizations, their environment, and their functions to understand the customer's requirement and to arrive at innovation approaches to best meet those requirements.
3. Knowledge of the missions, roles, functions, organizational structures, and operation of the DoD, USAF, USSF and Space Systems Command strategic planning processes in order to develop short and long range staff operations planning guidance in accordance with broad USAF, USSF and SSC policies and objectives.
4. Skill to manage several projects simultaneously; high degree of analytical ability to plan and adjust work operations of one or more organizational segments to meet program requirements and objectives within available resources.
5. Ability to communicate, both verbally and in writing, and interact effectively at the highest levels in order to achieve stated positions or to make an adequate case for a particular strategy which may not be readily accepted but which is the best solution to achieve overall SSC goals.

- Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise.
- May be required to travel by military or commercial aircraft in the performance of TDY assignments

- The employee must meet the Defense Acquisitions Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) requirements applicable to the duties of the position.

- This is a Financial Management Level 2 Certified position IAW the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) 2012, Public Law 112-81, Subtitle F-Financial Management, Section 1599d.
