Qualifications

To qualify for the GS-07 level, you must have one of the following:
1 year of full-time* specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 level defined as providing technical and/or programmatic information to state, local and/or tribal governments or non-profits to help facilitate assigned environmental protection programs development within municipalities/towns/tribes.
1 full year of graduate level education; or superior academic achievement (Superior Academic Achievement Definition); the education must provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position
equivalent combination of education and experience
Your answers to the online assessment will be used to evaluate your competencies in the following areas:
Skill in oral communication.
Knowledge of applicable federal environmental statutes and regulations including Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA), as amended by the Superfund Amendments Reauthorization Act (SARA), and the National Contingency Plan (NCP); other regulations as related to program activities and mission, such as Clean Water Act (CWA); Clean Air Act (CAA), etc.
Knowledge of grants regulations processing, economic and fiscal procedures of the Federal government and state/local/tribalorganizations.
Knowledge of contracting and grants management procedures.
Skill in applying standard environmental statutes, regulatory requirements, program goals and objectives of assigned environmental programs involving routine programs, projects, or activities.
Skill in oral communication.
Knowledge of the organizational structure of the Agency, and stakeholder/recipient organizations, in order to understand decision making processes and procedures, national environmental policies, and facilitate issue resolution.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
