About the Position: This position is located in the US Army Sustainment Command, 407th Army Field Support Brigade, Logistic Readiness Center on Fort Cavazos, TX.

Duties

Conduct vehicle and associated equipment inspections using the applicable technical manuals. Interpret results on engine analyzers, dynameters, exhaust analyzers, vacuum and fuel pump testers, injector testers, ignition timers, tachometers, voltmeters and gauges, micrometers, calipers and dial indicator. Perform overhaul and repair work on heavy-duty mobile equipment and vehicles. Diagnose, repair and test mobile equipment electrical systems. Operate light utility vehicles and/or forklifts to transport parts.

Requirements

  • Incumbent must successfully obtain and maintain a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI).
  • Incumbent must successfully pass a pre-employment and annual physical exam.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 40 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
  • Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain forklift training certification and license.
  • This position requires the employee to use personal protective equipment provided by the employer.
  • Incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a valid state driver’s license and any installation and/or DoD license required for the type of vehicle being driven.

I can 1) Perform basic repairs, modifications, rebuilding, or manufacturing of heavy mobile equipment; 2) Perform arc electrical/gas welding to make minor repairs or modifications to equipment. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. The work requires frequent standing, bending, reaching, stretching, climbing, and crouching. Works on top of, under, and in tight compartments, performing strenuous work while standing, laying, or sitting. Frequently lifts and carries items unassisted weighing up to40 pounds and often exerts similar effort in pushing, pulling, and positioning parts, assemblies and equipment. Frequently lifts and moves heavier items with the assistance of other workers or with lifting devices such as jacks, hoists, and cranes. May work from ladders or work platforms at varying heights. Working Conditions: Works both inside and outside. When inside, is frequently exposed to fumes, drafts, changing temperatures, and noise. Works in hard to reach places in flat, vertical, horizontal, and overhead positions. When outside, works in weather typical to geographic area. Is subject to cuts, burns, chemical irritations, bruises, electrical shock, and injuries from falls. Follows prescribed safety practices and use of safety equipment such as hearing protection devices, hard hats, steel-toe shoes, gloves, respirators, and protective clothing. Some of these safety items may be uncomfortable to wear or use and must be worn for long periods of time.
