This position is located with the Research and Development, Pacific Southwest Research Station located in either Placerville or Arcata California. The position is responsible for the Facilities Management Program. This program includes preventative maintenance, restoration, renovation, and replacement of building, electrical, and mechanical equipment. Duties

Participates in managing all phases of the buildings and facilities maintenance program, including installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical, electrical, refrigeration, and pumping systems. Manages and arranges daily, weekly, and monthly inspection as well as annual, planning for buildings, utilities, grounds, sanitation and other facilities. Ensures the work order system is responsive to customer and facility needs. Ensures that work orders are prepared and priorities to determine tracking progress through project completion. Conducts facility safety and health compliance inspections and monitors compliance with safety and health regulations.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.

  • Successful completion of one year probationary period, unless previously served.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the eligibility and qualifications requirements as defined below by the closing date of the announcement. For more information on the qualifications for this position, visit the Office of Personnel Management's General Schedule Qualification Standards. Your application and resume must clearly show that you possess the experience requirements. Transcripts must be provided for qualifications based on education. Provide course descriptions as necessary. Specialized Experience Requirement: For the GS-07: You must have one year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as 3 or more of the following: Oversaw contracts for the repair and replacement of components for electrical systems and heating/refrigeration systems, grounds maintenance, and snow removal from walkways, paths, compound road systems, parking lots, and roofs; Used and monitored an online work order system; Developed cost estimates for a facility or building maintenance program; Conducted facility safety and health compliance inspections; and/or Worked with contractors to coordinate repairs and replacements for facilities maintenance. OR One full year of graduate level education if directly related to the work of this position. Acceptable fields of graduate coursework may include: Engineering, Industrial Arts, Property Management, or Business Administration. OR An appropriate combination of graduate level education and specialized experience. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. TIME IN GRADE REQUIREMENT: If you are a current federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirements of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled. This requirement must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
