This position is located in the Small Business Administration, Office of Congressional and Legislative Affairs in Washington, D.C. The incumbent is responsible for handling Executive Branch and congressional activities that affect small business, including a limited amount of congressional casework. The position is expected to effectively track, monitor and advise on relevant legislative issues in Congress that affect the Agency.

Duties

With assistance of a senior staff member the incumbent provides responses to Congressional inquiries. With assistance of a senior staff member, the incumbent tracks and develops strategic relationships for the SBA with Congressional staff members and Executive Branch officials. Under the supervision of a senior staff member the incumbent provides written guidance to small businesses to aid in development of small business principles and strategies. Requirements

Qualifications

GS-9: One year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-7 grade level in the Federal service, obtained in either the private or public sector: reviewing and editing correspondence for a variety of audiences; utilize document management systems to capture, store and/or distribute documents (e.g. filing, data entry, document imagining, etc.) and receive and review all types of correspondence for tasking assignment to the appropriate action office for response. It is available for your review on OPM's Qualifications web site: Miscellaneous Administration and Program Series; GS-0301 Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. TIME-IN-GRADE: If you are a current career or career-conditional federal employee applying for promotion under Merit Promotion you must have completed a minimum of 52 weeks in positions at the next level lower than the position being filled All qualification requirements must be met by 11:59 pm (Eastern Time) on 12/28/2024.

GS-9: Successful completion of a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related

Combination of Experience and Education:
GS-9: Combination of education and experience as specified above.
For example, an applicant who has 1.0 full year of Masters level education (i.e. 50% of education required) and 6 months of creditable specialized experience (i.e. 50% of the required experience) would equal 100% of the required experience for the position.
