About the Position: This position is located with the U.S. Army Sustainment Command, Joint Personal Property Shipping Offices-Mid Atlantic, Fort Belvoir, VA.
Duties
Determine and/or advise entitlements or procedures related to temporary storage of goods, weight allowances; prohibited items; and shipment of personal property including various methods available.
Provide information and/or advice to military and civilian personnel regarding their entitlements for shipment and storage of personal property.
Receive, review, and/or process correspondence, orders, and applications to move property from residence and non-temporary storage.
Forward appropriate advance documents to other transportation offices for movement of property both overseas and within the continental United States.
Determine the most efficient and economical rates and routes for shipment and/or storage of household goods, unaccompanied baggage, personal effects, and/or mobile homes.
Requirements
- This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain a Tier 1 (NACI) security investigation.
- This position may require the incumbent to travel (TDY) up to 10% of the time.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: reviewing applications to move personal property from residence and non temporary storage, planning, routing, estimating costs involved in personal property moves; preparing customs documents; resolving problems while goods in transit; and composing variety of documents utilizing word processing software. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
