Incumbent serves as an Assistant Building Management Specialist providing occupants of Federal Government buildings with safe, secure, clean, and sustainable facilities.Seven positions will be filled, one at each of the following locations: Chicago, IL; Detroit, MI; Grand Rapids, MI; Minneapolis, MN; Akron, OH; South Bend, IN; Peoria, IL. At this time, we are filling one vacancy per posted location, however additional vacancies may be filled from this announcement as needed.

Location of position: Public Buildings Service, Region 5.
Requirements
- US Citizenship or National (Residents of American Samoa and Swains Island)
- Meet all eligibility criteria within 30 days of the closing date
- Meet time-in-grade within 30 days of the closing date, if applicable
- Register with Selective Service if you are a male born after 12/31/1959
- Direct Deposit of salary check to financial organization required.

The GS-09 salary range starts at $59,966 per year.
Salary is determined by the location for which you are selected.
If you are a new federal employee, your starting salary will likely be set at the Step 1 of the grade for which you are selected.
To qualify for the GS-9 level, you must demonstrate that you meet one of the following:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level of the Federal service. Specialized experience is experience assisting in the management of a commercial office building (or equivalent non-housing high rise building) consisting of building mechanical system (i.e., HVAC, alarm systems, elevators, etc.): This experience typically includes:
coordinating repair and/or alteration projects;
maintaining customer satisfaction programs that include feedback mechanisms used to evaluate the effectiveness of services provided;
gathering data to assist with the development of operating budgets; and
inspecting contractor performance
OR
You must possess a master's or equivalent level degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or an LL.B. or JD. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work.
You may qualify based on a combination of graduate level education and appropriate experience that together meet the qualification requirements of this position.
