About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at GISA-Pacific at Fort Liberty, NC.
Duties
Serves as a Security Assistant assigned to one of the Regional Ground Intelligence Support Activities (GISA)
Assists in the implementation and enforcement of COMSEC policies to protect sensitive and classified information
Performs a variety of routine to complex administrative security duties related to the safeguard of personnel, classified information, and equipment
Supports establishment of a comprehensive security education program for the organization
Identifies derogatory information and notifies senior Personnel Security Specialists and/or the Command leadership.
Provides support to senior Security Specialists in the administration and enforcement of intelligence-related security programs
Supports implementation of the organization’s PHYSEC program.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
- In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance based on a T5 (or equivalentlevel) investigation with eligibility for sensitive compartmented information (SCI).
- All INSCOM employees may be subject to extended TDY or worldwide deployments during crisissituations to perform mission essential functions as determined by management.
- Requires Temporary Duty (TDY) travel up to 10% of the time.

To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience:1) Utilizing databases to verify security clearance. 2) Issuing and/or accountability for security/access badges. 3) Maintaining security files using automated systems in accordance with applicable security regulations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GG/GS-07).

Specialized experience is progressively responsible intelligence-related security work directly related to the position being filled.
