This vacancy is for a GS-0081-9, Assistant Fire Chief located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, TRACEN CAPE MAY STRUCTURES. Duty location will be determined upon selection.
Duties
You will serve as a Assistant Fire Chief and be responsible for ????performing firefighting and a variety of rescue/emergency response and fire prevention duties in the protection of personnel, property and equipment.
Qualifications
To qualify at the GS-09 grade level, applicants must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-08 grade level in the federal sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
Examples of specialized experience include: developing, directing and administering a thorough and comprehensive fire fighting, fire prevention program; maintaining a variety of training and qualifications controlling or extinguishing fires as a member of an organized military, industrial, volunteer, or governmental fire department or brigade operations; detection, reduction, or elimination of potential fire hazards; operation of fire communications equipment; developing, managing, controlling hazardous materials incidents response programs; develop implementing, or providing training in fire protection and prevention, or supervising, controlling and directing a fire station.
This position is designated as a key position. The position is clearly in the firefighter mission and requires a background in fire fighting. Requires a valid State Class B operator license. Their is a max restriction for this position (37)

NOTE: Education cannot be substituted for experience at this grade level.
